Post Punch

Post Punch work rules allows you to ask an employee a question on the Time Clock after they punch in, and based on the employee's response, add an earning if appropriate.

The Post Punch work rule type includes the following work rules:

No Op Post Punch

Description

No post punch operation is performed.

Prompt For Fixed Hours Earning

Description

Asks the employee a question at the Time Clock. If the response to the question is "No", a fixed amount earning is created.

Parameters Parameter Description

Back Punch

If selected, a back punch prompts the message.

Break Punch

If selected, a break punch prompts the message.

Default Message

Enter the question you want the employee to answer.

Example: "Was your break offered to you today?"

Earning Hours

Number of hours assigned to the earning.

Earning Type

Earning Type assigned to the earning.

In Punch

If selected, an in punch prompts the message.

Min Hours Worked

Minimum hours that must be worked before the rule is triggered. If the employee works fewer hours than the configured minimum, the work rule does not apply.

Max Hours Worked

Maximum hours that can be worked to trigger the work rule. If the employee works more hours than the configured maximum, the work rule does not apply.

Default: 24

Pre-shift screening validation

If selected, the employee will not be prompted to complete a post punch questionnaire if they have completed a pre-shift screening survey prior to arrival.

Out Punch

If selected, an out punch prompts the message.

Priority

Priority used to determine execution order within a rule set. Lower numbers will execute first. Unless specified, all rules default to a priority value of 5.

Resource Message Map

Select the language in which to display the question on the Time Clock.

Use Shift Date for Earning

Use the shift date instead of the punch date for the earning.

If shift date can not be used, punch date will be used as default.

Use Shift Hours on Out Punch

If selected, the shift's net hours on out punch will be used for checking minimum hours, rather than the net hours on the day.

 

Check for Rejected Punches

If selected, the work rule uses both approved and rejected punches to calculate shift length.

Default: Clear

Under-Reported Tips On Out Punch

Description

Prompts the employee to acknowledge that they have under-reported their tips. This message displays when the employee punches out.

Priority

Priority used to determine execution order within a rule set. Lower numbers will execute first. Unless specified, all rules default to a priority value of 5.

Resource Message Map

Select the language in which to display the question on the Time Clock.

Certification Expiration

Description

Notify an employee that their certification will expire within the configured number of days.

Parameters Parameter Description

Back Punch

Notify employee on back punch.

Break Punch

Notify employee on break punch.

In Punch

Notify employee on in punch.

Out Punch

Notify employee on out punch.

Priority

Priority used to determine execution order within a rule set. Lower numbers will execute first. Unless specified, all rules default to a priority value of 5.

Start Days Until Expiration

Number of days from now to start looking for expiration date.

Stop Days Until Expiration

Number of days from now to stop looking for expiration date.

Missing Meal Break

Description

Alert an employee, upon out punch, that they are missing meal break punches, and allow them to manually enter the break.

Note: This feature is not compatible with the Mobile App.

Parameters Parameter Description

Break Time Violation Message

Enter the message to display on the Time Clock when the employee enters a break that is less than the minimum break length.

First Break Limit

Number of hours the employee can work before the first break must be taken.

First Minimum Shift Length

Minimum shift length that must be worked before the first break penalty can be applied.

First Missing Break Message

Enter the message to display on the Time Clock when an employee is missing their first break.

Minimum Break Length

Minimum number of hours that must be taken for the break.

No Break Violation Message

Enter the message to display on the Time Clock when an employee does not take the required break.

Second Break Limit

Number of hours the employee can work before the second break must be taken.

Second Minimum Shift Length

Minimum shift length that must be worked before the second break penalty can be applied.

Use Actual Punch Time

If the check box is selected, the system will use the employee's actual punch time, rather than rounding.

Assignment Selection

Description

Allow the employee to enter an assignment.

Short Break Post Punch

Description

Prompt the employee with a configured question if their break did not meet the configured Minimum Break Time.

Earning to which the amount is assigned.

Earning Hours

Number of hours assigned to the earning.

Minimum Break Time

Minimum number of hours that must be taken for the break. If the break does not meet the configured minimum break time, the message will display on the Time Clock.

Priority

Priority used to determine execution order within a rule set. Lower numbers will execute first. Unless specified, all rules default to a priority value of 5.

Text to Display

Enter the message to display when a break does not meet the configured minimum break time.

Use Actual Punch Time

If the check box is selected, the system will use the employee's actual punch time, rather than rounding.

Missing Break Post Punch

Description

Prompt the employee with a configured question if they did not take a break prior to punching out.

Number of hours the employee can work before the first break must be taken.

First Minimum Shift Length

Maximum hours that can be worked to trigger the work rule. If the employee works more hours than the configured maximum, the work rule does not apply.

If the check box is selected, the system will use the employee's actual punch time, rather than rounding.

Check Missing Break

If the selected, missing breaks are included in validation checks. If not selected, missing breaks are excluded from validation checks.

 

Check for Rejected Punches

If selected, the work rule uses both approved and rejected punches to calculate shift length.

Default: Clear

Schedule Validation Attestation

Description

Prompts the employee to acknowledge that their punch times do not match their scheduled shift times. An earning is then applied to the time card.

Use Punch Validation work rules to specify time frames for when employees are locked out of the Time Clock and when they receive warning notifications on the Time Clock screens.

Tips

Create a separate work rule item for each type of acknowledgment message.

Custom Prompt

Enter a custom prompt that appears when employees attempt to punch for a shift that does not match their scheduled shift time.

Early In

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch in early for a scheduled shift (see Early In Threshold).

Early In Threshold

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for punching in too early. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Early Out

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch out early for a scheduled shift (see Early Out Threshold).

Early Out Threshold

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for punching out too early. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

First Break Limit

Late In

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch in late for a scheduled shift (see Late In Threshold).

Late In Threshold

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for punching in late for a scheduled shift. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Late Out

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch out late for a scheduled shift (see Late Out Threshold).

Late Out Threshold

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for punching out late for a scheduled shift. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Long Shift

If selected, the prompt appears when employees work a shift that was longer than their scheduled shift (see Long Shift Threshold).

Long Shift Threshold

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for working a shift longer than their scheduled shift. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Minimum Break Length

Minimum length of time (in hours) that must be taken for the Break.

Example:If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Minimum Shift Length

Minimum length of time (in hours) for a shift.

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Missed Break

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch out from a shift from which they did not take a break.

Not Scheduled

If selected, the prompt appears when employees punch for an unscheduled shift.

Post Punch Limit

Period of time (in hours) after an unscheduled In punch that RMS searches to detect scheduled shifts. If there are no scheduled shifts during the Post Punch Limit time frame, employees can punch in for the unscheduled shift. If employees have scheduled shifts during the Post Punch Limit time frame, they cannot punch in unless they are within the shift lockout grace period.

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Pre Punch Limit

Period of time (in hours) before an unscheduled in-punch that RMS searches to detect scheduled shifts. If there are no scheduled shifts during the Pre Punch Limit time frame, employees can punch in for the unscheduled shift. If employees have scheduled shifts during the Pre Punch Limit time frame, they cannot punch in unless they are within the shift lockout grace period.

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Second Break Limit

Number of hours the employee can work before the second break must be taken.

Example:If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Second Minimum Shift Length

Minimum shift length that must be worked before the second break penalty can be applied.

Example:If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Short Break

If selected, the prompt appears when employees' break does not meet the configured minimum break length.

Short Shift

If selected, the prompt appears when employees work a shift that was shorter than their scheduled shift (see Short Shift Threshold).

Length of time (in hours) after which employees receive the prompt for working a shift shorter than their scheduled shift. 

Example: If you want the time period to be 15 minutes, enter 0.25.

Use Actual Punch Time

If the check box is selected, the system will use the actual time that the employee punched in to calculate the break start time. If the check box is clear, the system will use the rounded punch time.
