Unifocus Desktop Launcher (for Mac)

The Unifocus Desktop Launcher enables users who do not have Java-capable browsers to launch Unifocus software. This documentation provides instructions on the following:

Note: Sign-on steps might vary for different users. If your company is using Single Sign On (SSO), after you enter your Partner Code, you will be directed to your company's unique sign-on screen.

Installing the Unifocus Desktop Launcher

Note: These steps were written for Safari. The installation steps might vary depending on which browser you are using.

  1. Open a web browser and go to the following URL: https://downloads.unifocus.com/desktop-app-206/unifocus206.dmg
    A confirmation message appears. It asks if you want to allow downloads.

  2. Select Allow.
    The file downloads.

  3. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click the DMG file.

    Note: The image above shows an installer window for UniFocus 2.0.6. The title of this window reflects the version of Desktop Launcher that you are installing. For example, if the current version of Desktop Launcher is 2.0.12, the title of the installer window will be Unifocus 2.0.12.

  4. Drag the Unifocus application icon (  ) into the Applications folder shortcut (  ) in the installer window.
    The following results occur:

    • The Unifocus application appears in the Applications folder.

    • The Unifocus DMG icon appears on your desktop.

      Note: This icon is not a shortcut to open the application. It is the link to the DMG file that you just downloaded.

  5. Press and hold the Control  (^) key while you select the Unifocus DMG icon on the desktop.

  6. Select Eject "Unifocus ..." from the drop-down list.
    The Unifocus DMG icon disappears from your desktop.

    Note: You can now delete the DMG file from your Downloads folder.

  7. In the Applications folder, double-click the Unifocus application.

    Note: You should only receive this message the first time you open the application.

  8. Select Open.
    The Sign in window appears.

  9. Enter your Partner Code.

    Note: The first time you sign in to the Sign In screen, you must enter a partner code, login ID, and password. Subsequent sign-ins require only a login ID and password. If you do not know your partner code, contact your Unifocus Client Success Manager (CSM).

  10. Select Next.

  11. Enter your Login ID and Password.

  12. Select Sign in.

  13. Select the module/database to sign in to.

    Desktop Launcher processes application dependencies to verify that you have the latest version of the software. When the process is complete, the Unifocus software opens.

Opening Unifocus software

After you have installed the Unifocus Desktop Launcher, you open Unifocus software from the Applications folder.

  1. Open a Finder window.

  2. Select Applications from the sidebar.

  3. In the Applications folder, double-click the Unifocus application.

    Unifocus software checks for updates, and the Sign In screen appears.

  4. Enter your Login ID and Password.
    The software opens.

Tip: Once the application is open, you can create a shortcut to the UnifocusDesktop Launcher by locating the icon ( ) in your Dock, pressing and holding the Control(^) key while clicking the icon, and selecting Options > Keep in Dock. This will pin the icon in your Dock.

Note: The window in which the Unifocus software opens is an application window; it is not part of the browser.
