About Unifocus Training

Overview

Training is an intuitive learning management system (LMS) that makes it easy for all learners to access essential training materials.

Content

In Training, learner content comprises courses and activities.

  • Course—A course is essentially a container where you place activities.

  • Activity—An activity is a distinct content object that you add to a course. An activity could be an e-learning module, a video, or a PDF. A course can contain one or multiple activities.

Note: At Unifocus, most courses typically comprise one or more e-learning modules.

Activities can be one of the following types:

    • SCORM packages—SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages are a standard format for e-learning content. SCORM ZIP packages can be directly uploaded to the LMS for the learners to access.

    • Videos—Video activities can be uploaded as direct video file uploads or as YouTube or Vimeo links. In all three cases, the video is shown to learners within the Training LMS in a video player.

    • PDFs—PDF files can also be directly uploaded to the LMS. PDF files are shown to learners in the browser in a custom PDF viewer. Administrators and course managers can also provide the option for users to download them if needed.

    • Hyperlinks—Hyperlinks provide administrators and course managers with the option to provide links to external resources for learners to access.

Users

There are two types of users in Training: learners and administrators.

  • Learners—Learners are the primary users of the LMS, typically employees, contractors, or external partners who engage with the learning content provided by Unifocus. Learners participate in courses, complete assessments, and utilize training materials to improve their skills and knowledge. Their responsibilities include accessing courses and completing assignments. They are the recipients of the learning process, utilizing the platform primarily to learn from the content provided.

  • Administrators—Administrators are the users who manage and control the LMS platform. Training has both Unifocus and client administrators.

In Training, you can add individual users directly or you can import a batch of users in a XLSX, CSV, or XLS file. Once users have been created, you can add them to groups. Groups allow administrators to organize and manage users by bundling them into custom groups for easier course enrollment, access to specific content, and communication.
