Adding shifts in Timeline Scheduling
The Timeline Scheduling screen enables you to add shifts in a variety of ways. See the instructions below for adding shifts in the Employee and Job views.
Note:The following instructions apply only to the Employees and Jobs timeline views.

In the upper-left corner of the screen, select Access your applications (
).
The menu expands. -
Select Labor > Timeline Scheduling.
The Timeline Scheduling screen appears.

Fields on the Add Shift dialog box
Field | Description | Notes |

Shift Date |
Date of the shift. Select the date from the drop-down list. |
Default: First date of selected period. |
Start Time |
Start time of the shift. |
Default: Blank. |
End Time |
End time of the shift. |
Default: Blank. |
Job |
Job type for the shift. An example of a job is Laundry Worker. |
Default: Blank. You must select a Start Time and an End Time for this field to become available. |
Assignment |
Type of assignment or task for the selected job. An example assignment for a Laundry Worker job is Washer. |
Default: None. This field is only available if the selected job has associated assignments. |
Shift Category |
Types of shifts (for example, Training) |
Default: Default. |
Save |
Saves the new shift as an unscheduled shift. |
Button is not available until you select:

Save and Schedule |
Save and schedules the shift. Selecting this button opens the Fill Shift dialog box. For more information, see Fill Shift dialog box in Timeline Scheduling. For instructions on how to fill shifts, see Filling shifts and changing shift assignments in Timeline Scheduling |
Button is not available until you select:

Cancel |
Closes the dialog box without applying your changes. |

Adding a shift using the Shift Operations section

In the left pane, select a job or employee.

In the Shift Operations section, select Add Shift (
).
The Add Shift dialog box appears. -
Complete the fields as necessary.

Do one of the following:

To save the shift, select Save.
or -
To save and schedule the shift, select Save and Schedule.

The dialog box closes, and a shift appears in the schedule pane.
Adding a shift by clicking and dragging

In the left pane, select a job or employee.

In the schedule pane, drag to create the shift by doing one of the following:

Select a shift start time and drag right to a shift end time.
or -
Select a shift end time and drag left to a shift start time.
A scheduled shift appears in the schedule pane.

Adding a shift directly on the schedule pane

In the schedule pane, select where you want to add a shift.
An action menu appears where you clicked. -
In the action menu, select Add Shift (
).
The Add Shift dialog box appears. -
Complete the fields as necessary.

Do one of the following:
To save the shift, select Save.
orTo save and schedule the shift, select Save and Schedule.
