Creating a new asset

In the Maintenance software, you create a new asset to add a new piece of equipment or resource to the facility's inventory for tracking, maintenance, and management purposes.

  1. From the main menu on the left side of the screen, select the Maintenance ( ) option. The Work Order Console appears.

    You can access the New Asset screen in two ways:

    • To access directly from the main menu, select Assets () > New Asset.
      The New Asset screen appears.
    • To access from the Asset Console:
      1. Select Assets () > Asset Console.
        The Asset Console screen appears.
      2. In the lower-right corner of the screen, select the New Asset () button.
        The New Asset screen appears.
  1. If necessary, select a property from the property ( ) drop-down list.

  2. In the Asset Name ( ) field, enter a name for the asset. The asset name does not need to be unique but should describe what the asset is.

    Note: Do not include the location in the asset name, as you can move assets to other locations.

  3. In the Asset Code ( ) field, enter the unique identification code for the asset.

    Note: When creating asset codes, keep in mind that assets can be moved to other locations. If you duplicate an asset code, an error message appears when you try to save the new asset.

  4. If the new asset will not be active, clear the Active ( ) checkbox.

    Note: By default, the Active checkbox is selected.

  5. From the Asset Category ( ) drop-down list, select the category to which the newly created asset belongs.

  6. From the Location ( ) drop-down list, select the location where the asset if physically located. This can be a room number or property name.

  7. Complete the remaining optional fields as necessary.
