About virtual datasets
In RMS Labor Budgeting, a virtual dataset is a dataset that has no corresponding budget data. Rather, depending on your selection, it extracts actual or standard data from either Labor or Time & Attendance RMS modules. This Labor and Time & Attendance data can be critical reference information that you can use to plan your budget. You can select virtual datasets as reference views in either Budgeting Dashboard or the Budget Tree.
Note: Virtual datasets are available only in Labor Budget licenses.
Note: Years/datasets are based on your configured fiscal year.
The image and table below describe the virtual datasets available in RMS Labor Budgeting.
Virtual dataset | Description | Data extraction method |
---|---|---|
Labor Actuals |
Uses actual Labor data from the selected year. For example, if you are using Automatic Data Processing (ADP), this data comes from ADP. If you are using Unifocus Time & Attendance, the data reflects the actual punches and recorded shift times. |
The Labor Actuals virtual dataset pulls data from the selected year. For example, if you select 2021, you will see data for 2021. |
Labor Standard |
Uses standard hours and standard costs from generated standard hours. This information can help you understand what work should have been done based on actual volumes for the selected year/dataset. |
The Labor Standard virtual dataset pulls data from the selected year. For example, if you select 2021, you will see data for 2021. |
Trailing 12 Labor Actual |
Uses actual Labor data from the last 12 months. You can select a Trailing 12 Labor Actual virtual dataset only for the current year. |
The Trailing 12 Labor Actual virtual dataset pulls data from the last 12 months, starting with the month before the selected month. For example, if Trailing 12 Labor Actual is selected for March of the current year, the virtual dataset will include data from February of the previous year through February of the current year. |
Trailing 12 Labor Standard |
Uses standard hours and standard costs from both Labor and the generated standard hours for the last 12 months. You can select a Trailing 12 Labor Standard virtual dataset only for the current year. |
The Trailing 12 Labor Standard virtual dataset pulls data from the last 12 months, starting with the month before the selected month. For example, if Trailing 12 Labor Standard is selected for March of the current year, the virtual dataset will include data from February of the previous year through February of the current year. |
